- Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a 1-hour unpaid break
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Manager with a strong background in general contracting and construction accounting to support a business undergoing a transition between two entities. This role will initially manage the accounting for an existing company during its wind-down phase and will later take full ownership of the accounting setup and operations for a new firm once system testing is complete.The ideal candidate will be highly knowledgeable in construction accounting workflows, comfortable working with both QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Procore, and capable of refining and improving accounting processes. This is a management-level position that will involve overseeing an accounting clerk and collaborating closely with senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
Accounting Management
- Manage all accounting functions for the existing company during its transition period
- Take ownership of accounting operations for the new entity once systems are finalized
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close processes
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all accounting activities
Construction-Specific Accounting - Handle typical General Contracting accounting workflows, including:
- AIA G702/G703 billing
- Retainage tracking
- Job costing
- Progress billing
- Vendor and subcontractor payments
- Maintain accurate project financials and cost tracking
Systems & Process Implementation
- Own and manage workflows in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Procore
- Support the implementation and testing of accounting systems for the new entity
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Make recommendations to refine and optimize accounting processes on an ongoing basis
Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Provide operational oversight and QA for the accounting support team.
- Collaborate with Client leadership on financial strategy
- Coordinate with external consultants as needed
- Serve as a key point of contact for accounting-related questions and improvements
Requirements:
- Proven experience in construction or General Contracting accounting
- Strong understanding of AIA G702/G703, retainage, and job costing
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Experience using Procore for financial or project-related workflows
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
