Real Estate Research and Proofreading Assistant

Work hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Edmonton, AB Time includes 1-hour unpaid break (8 hours a day/40 hours a week)

Scope:

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 5:30 PM MT with 1 hour unpaid lunch break

  • Remote work with the possibility of occasional phone communication for information verification

  • Long-term role with opportunities for skill development in real estate appraisal processes

  • Collaboration with a team of remote workers and appraisers

Key Responsibilities:

1. Front-End Research (File Setup):

  • Property Identification: Locate and verify legal descriptions, LINC/PID numbers, and civic addresses.
  • Document Retrieval: Pull Land Titles, Corporate Searches, and Tax Assessments using online registries (Spin2, BC Online, etc.).
  • Municipal Data: Navigate various municipal websites across Western Canada to identify specific Zoning/Land Use designations and locate property tax information.
  • Listing History: Search MLS/Matrix databases to compile sale and listing history for subject properties.
  • Data Entry: Accurately populate the subject property data into report templates (Word/Excel or Appraisal Software).
 
2. Quality Control & Proofreading:
  • Cross-Referencing: Ensure data in the final report matches the source documents (e.g., checking that the site size in the report matches the Land Title).
  • Formatting: detailed formatting of reports in MS Word/Excel to ensure professional presentation.
  • Review: Proofread information that has been input to ensure accuracy
 
Requirements:
  • Tech Savvy: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel formulas, Word formatting) and the ability to learn new web-based mapping/registry systems quickly.
  • Real Estate Knowledge: Familiarity with real estate terminology (e.g., Fee Simple, Easement, Zoning) is a significant asset.
  • Research Skills: Ability to dig through municipal websites to find specific bylaws and maps.
  • Attention to Detail: You must be the type of person who spots a typo in a 50-page document or notices when a number doesn't match the source file.
  • Communication: Excellent written English for report proofreading.
