Digital Marketing & SEO Specialist

Overview
We are looking for a proactive Digital Marketing Assistant to take ownership of our online presence. The primary goal of this role is to improve the website’s technical health, boost visibility in local Google searches, and optimize content to appear in AI-driven answers such as ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. This is an excellent opportunity to grow with a business that may scale the role to full-time as leads increase.

Job Highlights
Number of Paid Hours Per Week: 20 hours (with potential to scale to full-time)
Schedule: Flexible within Eastern Time zone; at least one weekly meeting with camera on
Work Arrangement: Work from home
Contract: Independent Contractor
Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.

Responsibilities

Local SEO & Google Business Profile Management

  • Fully optimize Google Business Profile, upload weekly photos, manage Q&A, and post weekly updates

  • Monitor and draft responses to customer reviews to build trust and authority

  • Ensure NAP (Name, Address, Phone) consistency across travel directories and local listings

Website Optimization & Maintenance

  • Perform regular technical audits to fix broken links, slow-loading images, and 404 errors

  • Update meta titles, descriptions, and headers for local travel keywords

  • Upload new itineraries, testimonials, and content provided by the team

AI Search Optimization (GEO Strategy)

  • Optimize FAQs and blog content for conversational, natural-language search queries

  • Implement and maintain basic structured data/schema markup to improve AI readability

Content & Growth Support

  • Write 2–4 SEO-friendly blog posts per month focused on trending travel topics

  • Create and schedule a monthly newsletter to nurture existing leads

  • Monitor competitor offers and keywords and report insights to the business owner

Requirements

Experience & Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in SEO, Digital Marketing, or Virtual Assistance with a marketing focus

  • High proficiency with GoDaddy and other website-building platforms

  • Experience using Google Business Profile, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console

  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for content assistance

Soft Skills:

  • Self-starter who can plan workflows and suggest improvements independently

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to produce simple monthly reports on traffic and lead growth

  • Excellent written English for blog posts, emails, and website content

  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, including regular completion updates or summary reports
