Job Title: Credentialing and Enrollment Coordinator
Fixed Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM PST
Job Overview
This role is responsible for managing end-to-end medical credentialing, privileging, and compliance for providers and clinical staff at an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The specialist ensures that all surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and staff are properly credentialed, enrolled, and compliant with ASC bylaws, payer requirements, and regulatory standards. Acting as the primary point of contact for credentialing matters, the role supports smooth operations by preventing scheduling delays, maintaining survey readiness, and continuously improving credentialing workflows—all while working independently in a fully remote, long-term freelance arrangement.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

Manage initial credentialing and re-credentialing for surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other licensed providers practicing at the ASC

Collect, verify, and maintain provider documents, including:

State medical licenses

DEA certificates
-
Board certifications
-
Current CVs
-
Malpractice insurance (meeting ASC and payer limits)

NPIs and specialty designations
-

Ensure providers meet ASC medical staff bylaws, policies, and privileging requirements
-
Coordinate credentialing approvals with the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body
-
Prepare and maintain complete medical staff files in accordance with ASC bylaws
-
Track privileges by specialty and procedure
-
Monitor expiration dates and renewal timelines for privileges and appointments
-
Ensure providers are not scheduled until fully credentialed and privileged
-
Track licensure, certifications, and competencies for ASC staff, including:

RN and scrub tech licenses
-
BLS/ACLS/PALS (as applicable)
-
Infection control training
-
TB testing, immunizations, and annual health screenings
-

Ensure compliance with ASC policies and regulatory requirements
-
Maintain documentation for survey readiness

Maintain credentialing and enrollment tracking systems

Monitor expiration dates and renewal deadlines

Generate reports for leadership on:

Credentialing status
-
Upcoming expirations

Enrollment progress

Serve as the primary contact for:

Providers

RN and scrub techs

Communicate delays, issues,

Coordinate with scheduling and operations to prevent credentialing-related delays or cancellations

Develop and maintain credentialing checklists, timelines, and workflows specific to the ASC

Assist with onboarding processes for new providers and staff
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in medical credentialing and provider enrollment with insurance payers

Experience enrolling providers with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
-
Familiarity with payer portals and credentialing software systems
-
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple applications and deadlines
-
Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal teams and external payers
