Role Name: Bookkeeper

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Eastern with a 30-minute paid break

Client Overview: Join a growing real estate investment and construction company managing multiple LLCs with an expanding portfolio of rental properties and residential building projects. This privately-owned business is professionalizing their financial operations and transitioning from manual processes to modern accounting systems. You’ll work directly with the business owner in a role that offers significant impact and growth potential.

Job Description: You’ll play a crucial role in transforming and maintaining the financial backbone of a multi-entity real estate and construction business. This is an opportunity to bring order to financial processes, implement modern systems, and support the growth of an expanding portfolio. As the dedicated bookkeeper, you’ll have direct access to leadership and the chance to shape financial operations from the ground up. The role offers variety, working across rental properties and construction projects, with potential to expand into broader administrative responsibilities as the business grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable processes across multiple LLCs (real estate holdings and construction entities)
  • Transition existing Excel-based financial records to QuickBooks system
  • Perform catch-up bookkeeping for approximately one year of construction LLC records
  • Handle receipt management and organization for rental properties and construction projects
  • Oversee expense management and ensure proper categorization for different business entities
  • Maintain ongoing bookkeeping for rental property operations and construction activities
  • Support project-specific financial tracking and cross-entity consolidation
  • Establish and maintain organized financial processes and documentation standards
  • Collaborate directly with business owner on financial reporting and analysis needs
  • Potentially expand into additional administrative duties as operations grow

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in construction and/or real estate industry bookkeeping
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of expense categorization specific to real estate and construction businesses
  • Experience managing accounts payable and financial record organization
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple entity structures
  • Bonus if you have experience with multi-LLC financial coordination
  • It helps if you’ve handled financial system transitions or catch-up projects
  • Nice to have experience with construction project cost tracking
