This creative entrepreneur has scaled their music business from 50 to 200+ annual shows and needs financial support to focus on what they do best. You’ll be working with someone who values innovative thinking and needs a bookkeeper who can handle both detailed reconciliation work and ongoing financial management in a fast-paced, unconventional business environment.

Job Description: You’ll take ownership of the complete financial operations for a growing music business, starting with an intensive reconciliation project and transitioning into ongoing monthly bookkeeping. This role offers the perfect opportunity to work with a creative entrepreneur who appreciates out-of-the-box thinking and needs someone who can handle complex financial scenarios. You’ll be the financial backbone that allows this musician to focus on performing while ensuring their business runs smoothly from behind the scenes.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile approximately 1,500 line items in Xero from disconnected Commonwealth Bank feeds, focusing on complex transfer transactions
• Perform comprehensive monthly bookkeeping including transaction categorization and account reconciliation
• Generate, send, and follow up on invoices to venues and clients using established admin email systems
• Match partial payments to invoices when clients pay in installments across multiple transactions
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for business performance analysis
• Handle accounts receivable and payable processes for touring and venue-related expenses
• Collaborate with tax accountant during annual tax preparation periods
• Maintain accurate chart of accounts and ensure proper categorization of travel, fuel, food, and subscription expenses
• Provide financial insights and reporting to support business growth decisions

Requirements:

• Accounting degree and 3-4 years of bookkeeping experience
• Strong proficiency with Xero accounting software and Australian business practices
• Experience working with Commonwealth Bank transaction formats and reconciliation processes
• Availability during Australian morning hours (9-11 AM) for regular communication and collaboration
• You bring creative problem-solving skills and can work with unconventional business structures
• Bonus if you have experience with entertainment or touring businesses
• It helps if you’re comfortable working with clients who travel extensively and operate in remote locations
