Client Overview: A rapidly growing vacation rental management company based in Los Angeles that manages over 40 properties across multiple booking platforms. The business is expanding significantly with a major 25-room hotel contract starting in February, creating an exciting opportunity to build financial systems from the ground up and directly impact scaling strategy.
Job Description: You’ll step into a CFO-level role where your financial expertise will shape the foundation of a thriving hospitality business. Working directly with the founder/CEO, you’ll build robust financial processes, provide strategic guidance, and create the systems needed to support aggressive growth. This isn’t just bookkeeping – you’ll own the entire financial operation and help structure a business that’s scaling rapidly in the competitive vacation rental market.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bookkeeping and maintain comprehensive financial records across multiple properties
- Monitor accounts receivable daily to ensure zero missed payments and optimal cash flow
- Generate monthly owner statements for property management clients with full transparency
- Reconcile transactions across multiple booking channels integrated through Guesty PMS
- Provide strategic financial analysis and cash flow guidance to executive leadership
- Create and implement financial workflows and structures to support rapid business scaling
- Develop financial models and reporting systems for the upcoming hotel expansion
- Separate and categorize business vs. personal expenses for optimal tax strategy
- Prepare executive-level financial reports and provide CFO-level strategic advice
Requirements:
- Senior-level accounting experience with proven bookkeeping and accounts receivable expertise
- Have knowledge of using the Relay banking system
- Must have experience with the Profit First accounting methodology
- Strong analytical skills for financial modeling and cash flow analysis
- Experience in small business accounting with mixed personal/business transaction management
- Self-directed work style with ability to work independently and take ownership
- Strong communication skills for executive-level financial reporting
- Bonus if you have experience with property management software, particularly Guesty
- It helps if you have experience with multiple booking channel integrations and reconciliation
- Bonus if you have hospitality or vacation rental industry experience
