Company/client overview:
The client is a tax and accounting business located in Northern California. They are currently in a growth phase and looking to expand their team. The firm provides tax advisory and accounting services to multiple clients and is continuously adding more to their roster. They primarily use QuickBooks Online and other QuickBooks products for their work.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team as a Remote Tax Accountant. This role involves working with a variety of clients, providing tax preparation, planning, and advisory services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in U.S. tax laws and experience with individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns. If you enjoy collaborating with clients to provide effective tax solutions and have a passion for accuracy, this role may be the perfect fit.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimize tax savings for clients.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in tax law and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
- Review financial statements and reports, identifying tax-saving opportunities.
- Assist clients with audits, tax disputes, and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax provision reports.
- Maintain detailed and accurate tax records and documentation.
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in tax preparation and planning.
- Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, UltraTax, ProConnect).
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines independently.
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
- They’re open to investing in resources (like additional monitors) to improve efficiency and are even considering having the new hire work from a co-working space rather than from home to ensure productivity.
